Let's face it--there's nothing more frustrating than lack of community when you land in a new place. You are left to figure things out on your own leaving you utterly overwhelmed and questioning your decision to move abroad. And there's nothing more disheartening than sitting in confusion, doubting your faith (in God and yourself), and no one to turn to.
You are doing a great job managing, but you know in your heart you should feel more settled and at peace by now. Maybe you've joined local FB groups and tried to meet up with other ladies, but you're still not finding your tribe.
Does this sound like you?
Not finding the right church? More introverted than extrovert? Pressing health concerns or homesickness got you down? Even having basic free time and energy at the end of the day is draining. You are exhausted and feel like you have nowhere to turn.
Other people make it look easy. But for you, it's been anything but. You thought that the hard part was going to be the logistics of finding housing and getting everything set up. But as it turns out, that was only the beginning. Now the emotions are hitting and you realize you're missing something more.
And you're not alone.
The truth is- diving into expat life surrounded by a genuine tribe of Christian women is a game changer. One that will inspire you, provide momentum, and even grow your faith.
What if there was a way to make sure you have that?
When I said YES to my first international move, I thought I knew what I was doing. When in reality, I left the United States 6 months pregnant with a 16 month old in tow - COMPLETELY naive to what was waiting for us on the other side of the world. The thrill was exciting, but getting settled was beyond overwhelming.
One day, I decided to quit grumbling and give it to God. ALL OF IT. I felt lighter, but the next couple of months crawled by as I knew I needed something more. Something deeper. My tribe. They restored my faith in myself and helped me develop a structured system to finally feel settled in southeast Asia...and then, do it all over again in Germany a couple of years later and also gather my wits during repatriation a couple of months ago.
During one harsh winter lockdown, I quickly realized how many other expat women around the world were desperately seeking Christian connection in their host country and could not find it. And that, my friends, was when the Encouraging Expat Society was born.
God planted a seed for this community in my heart, and it has since grown confidence, rooted faith, and developed solid friendships from all corners of the globe. This group is a blessing to me, and I know it will change your heart the same way it helped mine!
What more could you ask for when repatriating or landing in a new country?
THE ENCOURAGING EXPAT SOCIETY is a different kind of community. Think small group at church but on a different scale. While we can't meet physically, we can always be in the wings for each other any time of day. The beauty of a global community is having someone present- no matter the time zone. Various backgrounds, family structure, and career goals keep things vibrant, yet we all have one common thread. The most important thread... to belong and felt heard.
THE ENCOURAGING EXPAT SOCIETY was originally created out of necessity during a harsh winter lockdown in Germany. What started local and small quickly grew to span women from 30 different countries.
If you are an expat/repat looking for connection and support, this is an opportunity that I promise you will not want to miss.
Many expats think it's difficult to find a new church, solidify a Christian network, or simply don't have the energy for one.more.thing. at the end of the week.
Below are the five key elements THE ENCOURAGING EXPAT will gift you:
Friendships will be instant. The connections are present and the bonds will be strong and flourish.
Those friends will become accountability parters overnight. No matter the time zone difference, people will show up for you.
Friendships founded and accountability partners created. Next, come the devotionals to inspire you. That inspiration will become a fearless motivation to keep going!
The very best way to build momentum and keep moving forward is telling stories. Getting your memories out into the world will alleviate stress, and teach others they are not alone.
Honing these skills amongst other women is a workable talent. Putting yourself out there by sharing your story will guide, motivate, and inspire others in this new found journey.
When you join The Encouraging Expat Society, you will have instant access to all the tools you need to make genuine connections, grow your faith, and get settled in your new space. Our happy members are equipped with the tools on how to pray and approach each new situation in a foreign country, so you'll never wonder what your next step should be.
